How to Lose Weight- The First Step You Can't Do Without

Do you normally think about working out and eating healthy first when you ask yourself "how to lose weight?" That's what we tend to think of when we think about how to lose weight- and these are all activities, things we do.

And they certainly are important. You will only experience progress on the scale and in the mirror if you do the right things. Now- you'll have to do the right things for an extended period of time, not just once. You need to do them until you've reached your weight loss goal. You'll have to do the adequate things permanently, if you want to keep the weight off for good.

That's the stage where weight loss efforts tend to fail. Many women over 40 can't keep that up long enough, although they initially put in a lot of time and energy in doing the right things.

Did you ever begin a weight loss program, but couldn't follow through with it? Couldn't you accomplish your weight loss goals? This tends to be very frustrating. Often women over 40 end their weight loss program at this point- it looks as if this particular weight loss program wouldn't been able to answer the question "how to lose weight?"

The circle repeats with the next program: Becoming disappointed and stopping the program because not being able to follow through. It all leads to "yo-yo dieting" and not knowing how to lose weight.

This begs the question: Why are some successful long-term, can stick with their plan and others can't? What do many do not know when they ask themselves "how to lose weight?"

There is an highly important factor in knowing how to lose weight, and that's your motivation. Your motivation is what causes you do the right things, and if you want to do the right things long-term, you need to keep up your motivation long-term.

Your motivation is taken for granted by conventional weight loss programs just telling you what to eat and how to work out. Judging from what I hear from my readers, all women over 40, this is obviously not effective.

There are 3 essential points to be aware of:

First of all, you need to have a substantial enough "why" to be able to follow through. You need to spend adequate time to be clear on your subjective "why do I want to lose weight". It's specific to you. You might find simple surface answers, like "I want to be more attractive" or "I want to be healthier". Ask yourself why do you want to be healthier? What would it give you to be healthier? Or, what would you get if you were more attractive? These are crucial questions to ask if you want to know how to lose weight.

Second, your "why" and your individual reasons to lose weight might modify from time to time. It's not enough to just repeat your personal reasons to lose weight. What are your personal reasons to lose weight right now? These reasons will shift over time.

Third, continuously renew and freshen your motivation. Do it on a everyday basis.
